To start a transportation business with one van, follow these key steps:
  1. Research and plan your business:
Analyze the market, identify your target customers, and develop a comprehensive business plan12. This should include an executive summary, company description, budget, and marketing strategy2.
  2. Choose your niche:
Decide whether you want to transport people (passenger van) or goods (cargo van)1. Some potential business ideas include:
  • Movers and packers
  • E-commerce goods transport
  • Local delivery services
  • Charter services or group taxis12
  1. Acquire a suitable van:
Select a van that aligns with your chosen business model. Consider factors like size, cost, and fuel efficiency1. You can purchase new, buy used, or lease a van to manage upfront costs2.
  2. Obtain necessary licenses and permits:
Secure a general business license and any industry-specific permits required in your area. Requirements may vary depending on your location and the nature of your business12.
  3. Get proper insurance:
Obtain commercial vehicle insurance and any other coverage required for your specific transportation services12.
  4. Set up your finances:
Open a business checking account to separate personal and business expenses. Create a budget and track your costs carefully1.
  5. Market your business:
Develop a strong marketing strategy to attract customers. This may include:
  • Creating an online presence through a website and social media
  • Networking with potential clients or partnering businesses
  • Using vinyl stickers on your van for mobile advertising12
  1. Focus on customer service:
Build a reputation for reliability and quality service to establish a loyal customer base3.
  2. Manage your operations efficiently:
Optimize routes, balance customer demand with your capacity, and maintain your vehicle regularly to maximize profitability3.
  3. Consider starting small:
Working from home initially and driving the van yourself can help keep costs low as you build your business1.
By following these steps and carefully managing your resources, you can launch a successful transportation business with just one van. As your business grows, you can consider expanding your fleet and services.

  • 02:36 I'm here today to discuss and advise any and everyone who wants to become an independent medical career contractor how I got started. I've completed my first two weeks of uh driving for myself and delivering uh during the first week. I only had one contract. I now currently have three contracts turn up um what's going to dictate how am I going to work it out as far as working for all three. One of them you have to drive out to norcross. I'm in the atlanta area. I'm in south fulton. I have to drive out to norcross to pick up my stops and then begin my routes from that point so that that one kind of takes a lot of gas um. The office is 37 miles one way from me and then my routes could end up being for a whole total day anywhere from 200 to 300 and some miles so I burned a whole tank of gas on that particular contract. The other two contracts I actually wake up whenever I want in the morning as usual and I call this patch when I'm ready to roll. This pack sends me my first run on the app from my house. So I go to wherever it's going to send me to pick up. The lab specimen or one of them is where I'm picking up blood for red cross. So I just want to give some information because shout out to jt at jt. Hustles. That's how you shape it about this particular entrepreneur career um. I was on his page and I was asking a lot of people who were in the comments saying that they had this contract they had that contract. I was asking them well how how did you get started. I mean can you give me a lead can you just give me a company name. One or something nobody would ever respond. Nobody gave me anything so it just made me push harder to figure out how am I going to find these contracts where am I going to get them from. I'm not a craigslist person. I don't trust correctly so. I definitely wasn't going to do that so here's what hey you guys hey shout out to her link to her. Channel is down the description below hey. I've made six figures over craigslist so I like craigslist but hey. I respect anybody's decision to disagree. So we gonna see how she was able to secure freight secure contracts. Secure work um as an independent courier without using craigslist because I have a video out about using craigslist which is how I found a ton of initial routes. But I also tell you guys other ways to check it out as well. It's also outlined in my book available on amazon but we're going to see what way she went to go secure the bag.

  • 05:41 I actually went on google and I searched medical carrier slash 1099 independent contractor once I did that on google. That's a nugget gave you the google keyword search. A lot of I say leads came up from different companies so at that point I just started going through them one by one deciding you know if there's something. I want to do because they gave the job description or whatnot uh where they located at and basically all the information you need to know to make a decision if it was something you wanted to do or not another thing that I did because once. I started looking up these companies uh when you click the apply button it'll take you to other websites to actually do the application for that contract. So that was another thing that I did. I actually that's another nugget website and created alerts for the type of job that I was looking for as far as medical carrier independent contractor. One of the companies is glassdoor so you want to create a job profile and alert system with glassdoor. The other one is cb. Driver that's cat boy driver uh once you go into either one of those you really need to do both because I did both and they're constantly going to send. You leads all day at a certain time of the day but they're only going to send the type of alerts in the area that you selected. So if you're looking to become an independent contractor carrier. Whether it's medical or just independent contractor carrier you want to start with google as far as searching for the leads and then you want to create a profile like I did with cbd cb driver and glass door that's dope one of the companies. I had did an application and signed their whole contract back in november. This company just contacted me this week and that made my third contract which was originally in my eyes supposed to be in my first contract but you know as god's work things don't come when you want it. They come to god plan but I hope this information is helpful for a lot of you. I've had a couple of people responding from the post that jt made at jt hustles um about well.

  • 08:25 He reposted my comment that I made on his his post and now I've gotten a lot of people requesting to follow me. I've gotten a lot of people requesting or asking how did. I get started. So. I asked if I did a video would you guys be interested and thus far. I had two people which is also something one of my cousins told me. I should have done the first week when I first got started thanks. I'm not good with videos. So this isn't me um normally on sundays. This is my lazy day. I normally do nothing but brush my teeth. Wash my face and chill all day but because of questions and me eager to help someone else get started because no one helped me as far as finding leads. I want anybody that wants to do this type of business to be able to be successful and at least know how to get started. I want to highlight this as well too so if you want to become an entrepreneur. It doesn't matter if you're a male or female especially in the independent courier industry which you guys. Know is by far my favorite business um. What she's a true testament of is that you need to be willing to go out and do the legwork because in this business just like many other businesses there may not be somebody there. That's willing to hold your hand from start to finish so if she would have waited for anybody to come hold her hand from start to finish. She would have never got to the level that she's at right now and continuing to grow so link to her. Channel again is down description. Below go show her some love let her know. Jtl's who sent you uh follow. Her journey get all the game that she presents about this industry. I know some people say jt.

  • 10:12 You won't even talk about it no more so hey here you go. I got over 100 videos on this channel uh talking about my perspective of the independent courier industry. But I want to highlight other people finding success in this business as well getting into this industry as well overcoming obstacles whether it be trying to figure out what kind of vehicle can you use and for those of you out there that have the rebuttal that oh I checked craigslist and it was nothing there for me. Now you guys got another option to go down the rabbit hole and do your due diligence on as well. Like. I always tell you guys about this industry run your numbers so don't just jump on the first opportunity because they say they'll pay you. X amount of dollars make sure you run your numbers and you get your actual profitability. After all expenses are accounted for and if you're happy with that number then take advantage of that opportunity secondly I also want you to understand that the most lucrative route you'll ever have as an independent courier will not be posted publicly online. I repeat the most lucrative route you will ever have as an independent courier will not be posted. Online. You got to understand that these drivers meet at a centralized location usually a warehouse but it doesn't have to be a warehouse and networking is going on on a regular basis. So if jt has a route that pays two thousand dollars a week and jt. Wants to go be a youtuber before that route makes it to the internet. The other people that do what I do knows that jt is on his way out the door they're going to approach the warehouse chief and say listen. I've been with you x amount of time we've had no issues. I'm ready to take on more responsibility. Hey. I want jt's route when jt is out the way and then put my route online. Their route might be a 500 a week 700 a week something like that type of route all right so. I say that to say that when you're getting into this understand that you're not gonna get maximum profitability because you still are outside of the network. Once you get inside the network you're gonna. See way more opportunities and be able to climb the ladder and negotiate better and you're gonna find way more lucrative opportunities. The most money I made in the industry always came from an internal opportunity. Getting started holds a lot of people back because you don't know where to go where to start what to do how to do it. But in my case. I figured it out and I'm in bags um.

  • 12:56 I currently drive my suv. I use a tote um to put the prescriptions in on one of my contracts just a regular plastic tote bin um. I've been getting anywhere from 21 to almost 50 stops a day on on that particular contract and that particular contract actually pays four dollars a stop so you can just about calculate how much money you can make a day if you made 50 stops or more um. All of the contractors do charge like a 4250 weekly uh subtraction from your settlement and that's because you have to use their app to get your runs or your stocks um. Some of them also charge that within that 24 for occupational uh accidental insurance which you need because you're carrying their cargo if something was to happen that covers it and it covers you so don't let the 4250 run you off versus the amount of money you're going to be making um per week. So 4250 is nothing all right you guys and for those people out there that always have a problem with the fees listening is the nature of the beast. Some people even say well how can I go direct and skip the 3pl. It's going to cost you way more than 42.50 for you to skip over to 3pl because now they don't want to see your track and trade system. They want to see your warehouse with certain size loading docks. Depending on the nature of the freight. They want to know about your 24 7 security. They want to know about what kind of system you have as far as storage. Do you have a cage system when it's on private security and that's just the start of it right. So it's get way deeper it gets way more expensive that's why. I always tell people you start with a 3pm right so that's what she's talking about right. Now these companies that she's naming are three pl's or they're underneath for 3pl and subbing out the work to individual owners. Owner operators independent couriers medical couriers whatever you want to call them.

  • 15:13 I think I mentioned everything um if you guys have any other questions feel free to comment on my youtube page under this video um. I'll respond as quickly as I can to help you but I just say stick to it. It's easy I just recovered from breaking my ankle back in august. I just started where I could walk again in november and I'm out delivering packages. At people's doors. It's nothing but dropping off the package at the door. If they're not there take the picture ring. The doorbell leave that you left it at the front door etc. However that app is now the other two contracts are a little bit different they require signatures for every stop because you're dealing with lab specimens or blood work. But like I said it's easy a lot of them you can start when you want except for that one that I do with the prescriptions out in norcross you have to be there by 6 a.m to uh pick up and sort your load. The other two contracts. I just called them the dispatch when I'm ready to roll so like. I said create a profile on glassdoor create a profile on cb driver and you can use google to search for multiple leads into your alert star or however but between those three. That's the only way. I found the contracts that I have all right you guys. I'm going to end the video. There hope you got value out of it use. This knowledge apply. This knowledge go and set up those accounts uh today or whenever you get time.
